Oct 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The annual convention of Blizzard Entertainment, called “Blizzcon”, will be held on October 22 and 23. “Gamasutra”, the event will be covered in depth and to thank the company’s broad and loyal fan base. This annual event, which commenced in the year 2005, is a much awaited event for the employees of the company, as it gives a whole lot of energy boost to them for the entire year to come.

Blizzard Entertainment is a gaming company that would be celebrating their major franchises: Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo in this annual event. It will be held at at the Anaheim Convention Center, which has been its consistent venue for the event since 2005. This year the event will be marked with the performance of Tenacious D. The second day of the event on October 23, which would also be the closing night of the event, will witness the customary performance of “Offspring”, their in-house band, consisting of there employees. It will announce the details of the two new playable games Starcraft II, Diablo III, before the performance of ‘Offspring’. The Blizzcon convention will also have exciting events like, Q&A panels featuring Blizzard Entertainment developers, , hands-on game-play featuring your favorite Blizzard Entertainment games, social events for players and developers to interact with each other and several other casual and competitive tournaments. It will also have an exciting costume, dance, Fan Art, Original Song and Movie contests to be hosted by the ace comedian Jay Mohr. The winners of each of these contests will receive a prize money of $25,000.

Blizzcon has been an annual event of the company for the last five years and, and each year its popularity increases more than the last. When it first started in 2008, there were 800 attendees. However, in 2009, it increased to more than 20,000 where the event was covered by several TV channels.
