Nov 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) “Blade” star Wesley Snipes has been ordered to serve three years in prison on charges of tax-evasion. Yesterday the Florida judge rejected his new trial and asked the actor to serve his prison sentence. U.S. District Judge William Terrell Hodges previously postponed his prison sentence in August.
The ‘Blade’ star was found guilty of willful failure to file his income tax returns to the U.S. Government. He was given three year jail sentence in July 2008. Judge William Terrell Hodges only said in his statement that the “defendant” Wesley Snipes had a fair trial and now its the time to enforce the judgment. The judge ordered the actor to report to prison as early as possible as it has been directed by the US Marshal’s Service or Bureau of Prisons. However, the sources yet could not confirm from when and where Wesley Snipes will begin his prison sentence. Wesley Snipes’ lawyer Daniel Meachum reportedly said that the court’s order was “shocking”. Daniel Meachum said that “Passenger 57″ actor is disappointed but presently he is staying positive and “strong” during this difficult time.
Judge William Terrell Hodges released a statement where he maintained that Wesley Snipes has had a fair, full and thorough review of his “conviction” and his sentence by the ‘Court of Appeals’. The judge said that during all his trials he remained at liberty but now its time to enforce laws. The prosecutors previously claimed that Wesley Snipes had earned more than $38 million since 1999 but he did not pay any tax during the entire period.
