john1Feb 11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) John Mayer is in the news yet again. However, this time he’s in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. In a recent interview with a reputed magazine, the “Your Body Is A Wonderland” singer went on to make some really crude, and racist, comments about black women. When asked if he is approached by black women, John Mayer suggested that they do, but that he does not encourage them, for he does not have any intention of dating them. As reason for his preference, he stated a rather weird metaphor about having a “white supremacist” manhood.

John Mayer stated that he generally does not date black women not because he is not comfortable or does not like them, but because he has a “f***ing David Duke c**k,” referring to the famous pioneer of the Ku Klux Klan. However, he clarified, he does not have anything against black women, because, he claims, he has a “Benetton heart,” drawing his reference from the famous multi-racial advertisements of the apparel brand United Colors of Benetton.

Needless to say, John Mayer’s comments about black women to the magazine has not been taken kindly by the critics. Most of the critics claim that making people aware of one’s sexual preferences and being downright rude to those who don’t come within one’s preferred arena are different. Moreover, his comments about the black community were also rather patronizing, which have of course not been well received. The flippancy of his comments have been objected to by the critics as being detrimental to the society, and it has been argued that his comments seemed to objectify black women.
