December 6, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Bengali film and television actor Bishwanath Basu will return to his forte very soon in the future. According to reports in the media, Bishwanath Basu will next be seen in a comic role. Confirming the news to the media, the actor says that the chief reason why he is making a comeback to comedy and why directors too like to see him enacting a comic role is his fans. It is true that the Bengali audience has always seen the funny side of Bishwanath Basu the actor and love watching him that way on screen. Therefore, his fans do not want Bishwanath Basu to remain trapped in a serious role for long!

His upcoming comic appearance comes for a Bengali film titled ‘Ami vs Tumi’. The Mainak Bhowmick film which also stars newlyweds Rahul and Priyanka will see Bishwanath Basu playing the lead character’s friend. The actor has thus been roped in to play Rahul’s friend in the upcoming Bengali venture. Though Bishwanath Basu does not reveal much about his role in ‘Ami vs Tumi’, he does confirm that his character in the film is not very comfortable with the English language, as a result of which he makes several mistakes in a number of places, and it is these mistakes which lead to the comic situations in the film.

While comedy will keep him busy for a while, Bishwanath Basu will also step into the host’s shoes for an upcoming Bengali dance reality show which features a team of girls competing with a team of boys. Hope we will get to see his comic side on that program too!
