July 14, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Bindu Chowdhury, perhaps not many will remembers this name. However, two years ago, this pretty Bengali babe made a name for herself by winning the controversial and Ekta Kapoor’s first reality show “Kaun Jeetegea Bollywood Ka Ticket’. Naman Shaw was her partner in this dance reality show.

As the title suggested, the winning jodi was to be cast together in film produced by Suneil Shetty’s Popkorn Entertainment. Unfortunately, equation between Balaji Telefilms and Popkorn soured. Low TRPs and recession has forced 9X to shut down its activities. As a result, poor Bindu’s dreams were shattered. Naman at least had TV to look up to, but Bindu had to settle for modeling assignments.

This long wait is over as Bindu has finally bagged not one but two films. The first one is a low-budget film called Bloody D. The plot is similar to that of the international horror flick Saw. The other film is directed by actress Mandakani’s husband.

Talking about the two films, an elated Bindu says, “Bloody D stars Aslam Khan (Nayee Padosan fame) and me in the lead role. Aditya Pancholi plays my father here. This is a psycho thriller loosely inspired by Saw. The other film is by Mandakani and her husband, who have two projects – The Lost Country and Hilsa. I’ve signed for the latter. Here Naseeruddin Shah plays my father. Shabana Azmi is also part of this film”.

The shoot for Bloody D is taking place in the beautiful locales of Jammu. Shooting in woods is an eerie experience. Chowdhury has a spooky tale to tell.

“One fine evening, I was sitting outside my cottage, chatting with a friend. Suddenly, I saw (presumably) a lady clad in white sari zoom into my room. My valuables were lying on the bed. I rushed into my room but there was no one inside. We keep experiencing such things. Some girls have refused to shoot at the spooky spots. I’m board all by myself in a cottage. We often shoot at night thus I’m sleeping during day time.”

Two years is a long wait and Bindu had to go through frustrating times. Does the girl hold any grudges against Balaji Telefilms or Popkorn?

“No, I’ve never let such thoughts creep into my mind. I’ve always maintained that the show was a learning curve for me. Though “Bollywood Ka Ticket’ didn’t help me in getting these films, it served as added advantage as I wasn’t required to audition for Bloody D.”
