Billy Mays: Cocaine Behind His Untimely Death

maysThe most regular guy you might have watched for hours on the Home Shopping Network selling you maintenance products, tools and food choppers was confirmed to have died on a June morning this year.

News has now come out that the pitchman had used cocaine during the days leading to his death. The Hillsborough County medical examiner’s office confirmed on Friday, the fact that a “contributory cause of death” was the cocaine usage which had contributed to at least 10 months of unattended and “untreated hypertension” with increased blood pressure problems during his exhaustive tours across the U.S. The informercial pitchman was discovered dead by his wife in their Tampa home on June 28th and the police made sure that the home was not broken into and ruled out any foul play by members of family too.

Cocaine’s effects on the heart are supposed to result in myocardial infarction, may include fatal arrhythmia, seizures and respiratory arrest. He had been complaining about chest pain for two years and was on painkillers like Hydrocodone, Oxycodone and Tramadol as he had had two hip surgeries and was going for a third one.

The man is much remembered for his one-breath delivery for OxiClean and Orange Glo pitches on television. “I was taught to pitch by a lot of old pitchmen.That’s the kind of style I have” he had reportedly said. He was also CEO and founder of May’s Promotions.Inc. Born in Mc Kees Rocks, Pennssylvannia, he had toured for 12 years across America before he became a household figure in the advertising world and was seen on Discovery Channel series, “Pitchmen”.

According to sources and Kdka-TV in Pittsburgh, he was burried with the OxiClean logo on his shirt and people wore the same attire he wore for his commercials (a blue shirt).
