The news of Billy Joel- Katie Lee split is finally confirmed. The two have publicly confirmed their separation after being married to each other for over a period of 5 years. In the joint statement released by the couple they said that they choose to remain “caring friends with admiration and respect for each other.”

The couple had got married at the New York Long Island mansion of Billy Joel way back in 2002. While this was Joel’s third marriage, Katie Lee was married for the first time. 60-year-old Billy Joel had recorded the song “All My Life” in 2007 and had gifted it to his 27-year-old wife, Katie Lee.

Katie Lee has been the successful host of 5 seasons of the Bravo TV network’s show, “Top Chef”. Joel is one of the most famous and successful singer/ composer of all times in the music industry, in the pop genre. The representative for the couple did not exactly comment how soon the divorce is going to happen.

For quite sometime now, the rumors surrounding the Katie Lee-Yigal Azrouel romance has been all over the place. Whether the decision of separation is a consequence of the alleged two timing has not been cleared. The spokesperson for the Grammy award winning legend claims that the decision is independent of all rumors related to stories surrounding Lee and Azrouel.

Billy Joel’s spokesperson said, “Their decision to separate was absolutely unrelated to Yigal.” A close friend of the couple said, “It was really the age difference that caught up with them. They grew apart. She is very career oriented. She loves going out. She loves the city. When Billy isn’t touring, he’d rather be on Long Island with his motorcycles and boats.”
