Billy Bell’s Illness Causes Withdrawal From “So You Think You Can Dance”

untitled38Oct 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The most recent episode of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, had the judge, Nigel Lythgoe giving out the official news that, Billy Bell would not be staying on for the show. Billy Bell was earlier revealed as the show’s sixth-season finalist, while unveiling the top 20 finalists of this season. Billy had auditioned for the show in Atlanta.

He is a 19-year old contemporary dancer from West Palm Beach, Florida. Billy had to withdraw due to an illness which was not elaborated. Nigel was aired saying, “We are disappointed that Billy cannot continue dancing in the competition on the advice of his doctor and wish him a speedy recovery. However, we are fortunate that Brandon Dumlao has agreed to return.” Nigel is also the executive producer of the show.

During the episode that aired on Monday night, Bell was shown performing with Noelle Marsh, Victor Smalley and Kathryn McCormick, who are all his fellow finalists. The performance had been pre-taped. The episode was called, ‘So You Think You Can Dance: Meet the Top 20 Special.’ Along with contemporary, Bell is also trained in most of the dance forms and can perform almost everything ranging from hip-hop to ballet. He currently lives in NY and studies at ‘The Julliard School’.

The Bell family, reportedly, put up a message on Bell’s Facebook page saying, that they would like to thank all of his fans for the support they have shown him this season. They informed that Billy had been released from the hospital and was feeling better. They also requested everyone to “Please respect the family’s privacy”. According to them, Billy hopes to try out again for season 7.
