Bill Withers’ “Lean on Me” Performed At The Haiti Telethon

sherlJan 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The ‘Hope for Haiti Now’ telethon turned out to be an immensely successful event when it was held last night with the aim of raising funds for the victims of the earthquake ravaged nation of Haiti. One of the most outstanding performances of the evening was showcased by musical artists Keith Urban, Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock, who rendered the classic track “Lean on Me”.

The performance managed to win the hearts of the audiences as the trio gave a mesmerizing performance that kept everybody asking for more. The group sang the popular Bill Withers’ track with heartfelt emotions that touched the hearts of the audiences. Apart from this, the much anticipated telethon event also witnessed performances by a host of other celebrities from the world of entertainment. The event also received wide viewership as it was simultaneously aired on a number of networks. Meanwhile, the telethon provided a unique platform for prominent personalities who enthusiastically participated in the spectacular event, which was hosted simultaneously by rapper Wyclef Jean from New York, actor George Clooney from Los Angeles and CNN correspondent Anderson Cooper from the disaster hit city of Port-au-Prince in Haiti.

The impoverished island nation of Haiti was hit by a massive earthquake on January 12, that led to widespread destruction in the Caribbean island. The total estimate of the number of victims killed by the disaster stands at 200,000 with around 1.5 million people remaining homeless following the catastrophe. The unprecedented devastation rendered by the natural calamity resulted in the large number of celebrities coming forward and pledging their support for the victims of the disaster.
