New York City, Feb 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Bill O’Reilly had a faceoff with Jon Stewart on ‘The O’Reilly Factor’. It was a huge showdown, and sparks were obviously expected to fly when two stalwarts such as Bill O’Reilly and Jon Stewart meet. On the first night of their showdown, more than 4,091,000 viewers watched the show. However on the first night, Jon Stewart was not in his real element, expect for the section in which he said that the Fox News is connected at a deep level with the Republican Party. And O’Reilly easily won the argument on account of the intellectual bent of his words.

The second installment of the show was much more tame than the first episode. Jon Stewart tried to match up to O’Reilly, and he talked extensively about the legislative issues, and his own personal views on the US President Barack Obama.

When O’Reilly asked him about Iran that the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants to drive the Jews out into the sea, then Jon Stewart said that, “I cannot control that…Here’s what we can’t do. Our strategy for battling terrorism can’t be that you overthrow governments and then make the United States military commit 150,000 troops to those lands until they can somehow stabilize the governments long enough so that you can prevent ten people from plotting destruction in a basement.”
