Big Pictures’ projects bag 14 trophies at 57th national awards

New Delhi, Sep 15 (IANS) It was big moment for Big Pictures, a Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group company, at the 57th National Film Awards Wednesday as its four production ventures have bagged 14 gongs in total.
“We are extremely delighted that (our) four films produced and one film released have won an unprecedented 14 national awards this year. I would like to congratulate the extraordinary talent that has worked with us to make it possible,” Sanjeev Lambha of Reliance Big Pictures, said in a statement.
Malayalam film “Kutty Srank”, produced and distributed by Big Pictures, won five awards including best feature film; special jury award; best costume designer award for Jayakumar as well as best cinematography and best screenplay (original) awards for Anjuli Shukla and P.F. Mathews-Harikrishna respectively.
Big Pictures also produced Rituparno Ghosh’s Bengali film “Abohoman” that bagged four national awards including best director for Ghosh, best actress for Ananya Chatterjee, best editing for Arghyakamal Mitra and the best Bengali film.
Another Big Pictures production venture “Well Done Abba” was declared the the best film on social issues.
“Paa”, co-produced by AB Corp and Reliance Big Pictures that also distributed the film, bagged four awards - best actor for Amitabh Bachchan; best Hindi language feature film; best make-up artist award for Hollywood’s Christien Tinsley and Dominie Till; and best supporting actress for Arundhati Naag who played Big B’s grandmother in the movie.
