BIG CBS acquires movies from Sony Pictures Television
November 15th, 2010 - 5:27 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Nov 15 (IANS) BIG CBS Networks, a venture between Anil Ambani Group’s Reliance Broadcast Network and CBS Studios International, Monday announced the acquisition of a host of films from Sony Pictures Television including popular titles such as “Mona Lisa Smile”, “13 Going on 30″ and “Vertical Limit”.
These movies are to air exclusively on its soon-to-be launched premium entertainment channels later this month, along with the lineup of top-rated CBS shows that already exist today, the company said in a statement.
“BIG CBS is ready to spoil audiences with the best entertainment on English TV in India. Keeping in line with one of our brands promises, these titles will be exclusive to BIG CBS channels,” said Aparnaa Pande, business head of BIG CBS Networks.
“The films have been carefully selected and will draw audiences to the channel. We are confident this deal will elevate the international standards set by BIG CBS channels and provide round-the-clock entertainment to the viewers seven days a week.”
This deal with Sony Pictures TV will see BIG CBS Prime, the first of the three premium international channels to be launched later this November, showcase popular hit movies on Saturday and Sunday evening’s during the prime-time band.
The channel promises the latest, hottest and freshest entertainment almost concurrent to the US, being served to the Indian audience, during the weekdays. BIG CBS Networks wants to ensure equally promising Hollywood blockbuster entertainment over the weekends.
The joint venture will initially launch three English language entertainment channels to mark not just the parent company but also the entry of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambai Group into the television broadcasting space and CBS Corp’s channel entry into India.
Reliance Broadcast Network has a multi-media presence in a host of areas such as radio, experiential marketing, out-of-home and television, specialising in the creation and execution of integrated solutions for clients, across the country.
