Betty White Wins Emmy Award For “Saturday Night Live”

bettyAug 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Saturday, the much anticipated gala event of Creative Arts Emmy Award 2010 was held. It was held at Nokia Theater, Los Angeles. The event watched the renowned celebrities of television take home the much coveted award for their contributions and performances in TV industry. It was a moment worth remembering for the American actress and comedian Betty White as she was awarded an Emmy for the seventh time in her career.

Betty White won Creative Arts Emmy Award as Outstanding Guest Actress in a comedy series for her turn as “Saturday Night Live” host. Betty White was asked to host “Saturday Night Live” after a social networking campaign raised the issue. The actress was not present to receive her Emmy Award. The “Saturday Night Live” head writer Seth Meyer took to Twitter where he congratulated Betty White on winning Emmy Award for hosting the show. Apart from Betty White several other actors and actresses bagged the Creative Arts Emmy Awards like Neil Patrick Harris for his special guest star appearance on “Glee”, John Lithgow for “Dexter” and Ann-Margret for “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”, to name a few.

Creative Arts Emmy Awards are given to those categories that don’t make it to the live prime-time version of the Emmy show, but they have equal meaning for all of the winners. It can be called as a prelude to Primetime Emmy Award, which will take place on August 29, 2010. It recognizes technical achievements, behind the camera as well as awards guest stars for their contribution.
