Betty White ‘very close’ to hosting SNL

New York, Feb 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) According to reports, Betty White is ‘very close’ to being a host of SNL. And if she does host the popular show, then she might have some company as well. The SNL team is thinking about a special ‘Women of Comedy’ episode that could feature the likes of Betty White, Molly Shannon, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as well.
Betty White’s numerous fans had started a Facebook campaign in which they want her to host the popular show. They even launched a special page on the social networking site Facebook in this endeavor. Till date, over 427,000 people have signed up in support for Betty White to be the host of SNL.
David Mathews is the creator of the Betty White Facebook Fan Page, and he sent a letter to Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels at the end of January after the fan page reached 5,000 followers. “My ask of you is simple,” Mathews wrote to Michaels. “What would it take to get you to invite Betty White to be a guest host on SNL? She is brilliant, funny, witty, and a comedic genius and legend. I have little doubt that it would be a ratings hit.”
Betty White is the star of the popular show ‘The Golden Girls’ and she also appeared in the Snickers advertisement, during the Super Bowl game. Recently she was also awarded the lifetime achievement award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
