May 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Facebook seems to be hot spot for all those who love to see Betty White and her inimitable style in every show in the entertainment industry. Just a few days back, the page that was dedicated to the octogenarian comedienne in the popular community networking site campaigned about roping in Betty White as the host of the popular sketch comedy show, ‘Saturday Night Live.’ It was a really active campaign, with the fans even urging the producer, personally to give their request a thought. To top it all, they actually got heard, and a few days back, Betty White debuted as the host of the comedy show. Now, it is the turn of the Oscars, with the fans once more lobbying that the comedienne be made the host of the Academy Awards.

Just like the last time, the fans in Facebook have dedicated an official page to the comedienne, called the ‘Getting Betty White To Host The Academy Awards.’ The page has already gained about 56,000 followers, and the list keeps growing longer by the second, literally. Many of the fans feel, as one of the commentators clearly expressed, that Betty White would surely make for one of the best hosts that the Academy Awards has ever seen.

However, the producers of the award ceremony, the Academy Of Motion Pictures Art And Sciences, made it very much clear that they have no intention of allowing the community networking site to decide who would be he right host for the Academy Awards. A spokeswoman for the Academy also echoed this decision saying that the age old protocol would continue to be maintained even in this case.
