BET Honors 2010 Grabs Immense Attention

betFeb 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The much anticipated BET Honors which gives recognition to eminent African American personalities each year, was aired on BET on Monday night. All the viewers finally got a glimpse of the spectacular award ceremony which was taped on January 16.

The gala event which was hosted by the ravishing actress Gabrielle Union, bestowed honor on prominent African Americans for their unprecedented contribution to their respective fields of work. The various personalities who were honored in the widely watched event included Whitney Houston, who received the honor in the entertainment category with Queen Latifah being the recipient of the honor in the media field. At the same time, the Entrepreneur Recipient turned out to be Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs with Dr. Ruth J. Simmons receiving the award in the education category. Renowned researcher and neurosurgeon Keith L. Black was recipient of the honor in the public service category.

Apart from the awards that were given out, the event turned out to be an immensely entertaining experience for all the viewers as it showcased stunning performances by a host of celebrities. One of the highlights of the event was the mesmerizing performance displayed by Jennifer Hudson, who sang a soulful rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”, that managed to win the hearts of the audiences. Other notable performances of the evening were given by Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, Indie Arie, Ryan Leslie and many more. This marked the third year of the annual BET awards which was introduced in the year 2008 by the network with the aim of celebrating the achievements of the African Americans personalities.
