June 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The BET Awards 2010 turned out to be a star-studded night that saw everything from tributes to comebacks. The audience at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles were treated to the performances by some of the biggest names in the music industry. The award night was hosted by Queen Latifah and the stars being awarded for their work in 2009-10.

Highlights of the evening included the pregnant and glowing Alicia Keys who took the stage and sang her hit ‘No one’ among other songs. She was also the show stealer among the award-recipients by being nominated twice for ‘Empire State Of Mind’ with Jay Z in Best Collaboration and Video Of The Year categories and winning in the former. She was also honored with the award for the Best Female R&B Artist. Queen Latifah showered her praise on the pregnant star and there was a video montage of her biggest hits shown on stage.

Another major high-point of the three and a half hour show was the tribute to Michael Jackson by Chris Brown. His performance in ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ and ‘Billie Jean’ saw the audience cheering for the infamous ex-boyfriend of Rihanna. The emotions ran higher as the star broke down in the middle of ‘Man In The Mirror’. Another youngster who stole the show at the BET Awards night was Nicki Minaj who won the Best Female Hip Hop Artist. She overtook the likes of Rasheeda, Lil Kim and Esther to win the honor. She also won the Best New Artist Award, beating teenage sensation Justin Bieber.
