However, the filmmaker is very excited these days as Gandu has been officially selected for screening at the prestigious ‘Slamdance Film Festival’ in Utah. Reacting on this achievement, the director says that it is a super cool news to get such a wonderful launchpad for his film. The festival provides the emerging filmmakers a good platform to show off their filmmaking talent through their new films.
The word ‘Gandu’ is of Hindi origin and is considered to be slang but the filmmaker did not mind using the word as his film’s title. The film has music by Kolkata band ‘Five Little Indians’.
Some critics even don’t mind to term the movie ‘porn’ because of its contents like expletives, masturbation, sex and all that a Bengali movie has never explored. However, it also shows the scenario of Bengali rap and all these will be presented in black and white. It is sure to attract the international viewers because it is not a taboo there.
