New York City, Dec 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A new musical show began on NBC, called ‘The Sing-Off’. It is quite similar to the ‘American Idol’ show, but the only difference is that instead of the individuals, this new show has groups performing.

And another major difference is that, the groups sing in their own sweet voices without any musical instruments at all. They make their way through all the songs, without the help of any musical instrument at all.

Same Wiesman produces this musical show, and Nick Lachey is the show’s host. One of the judges of the show is the acclaimed singer-songwriter Ben Folds, who was the former frontman with the Ben Folds Five.

Ben Folds said about his “University a cappella” album: “Music education has been atrophying. And yet, at any given school, any number of a cappella groups are getting together a few times a week to rehearse and perform. What’s more is they’re really good…it must be amazing to sing in them. I wanted to capture that magic.”

The show airs on NBC for the next two nights at 8:00 p.m. ET, and the finale will be aired live on Monday, December 21st. The winning group will receive $100,000 and a major-label record contract.
