London, Oct 9 (IANS) Actress Kristen Bell is all set to play singer Christina Aguilera’s rival in the musical drama “Burlesque”.
The film is about an ambitious small town girl with a strong voice who does well on a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club, reminiscent of the nightclub in Bob Fosse’s “Cabaret”, hollywoodreporter.com reports.
Bell will play Nikki, who is a dancer and main attraction at the club and goes out of control when Aguilera’s character suddenly steals her spotlight.
Singer Cher will seen as the nightclub owner, while Stanley Tucci plays the man who helps Aguilera transform from a simpleton to a looker.
Shooting will begin Nov 9 and a release date is planned for 2010 Thanksgiving.
