Bedingfield slams media for obsession with troubled starsApril 6th, 2008 - 1:11 pm ICT by admin
London, April 6 (IANS) British singer Natasha Bedingfield is slamming the media and the public alike for their obsession with the private lives of troubled celebrities. The 26-year-old singer thinks people have developed a sordid obsession with celebrities who use drugs, contactmusic.com reports.
She has also sworn to never appear in any tabloid magazines drunk or high because she campaigns against drugs.
She said: “We’ve had a lot of artists taking drugs recently and people have been very excited by that. People have certain nostalgia for the Jimi Hendrix days. And there is a circus mentality going on where people want to watch stars mess up their lives.
“They are drug addicts - it’s not right to point the finger and laugh at someone who is not well. People can be vultures. I am so glad Amy (Winehouse) got a Grammy, because it’s so good to have that support. The reason I’ve never done drugs is that I grew up with a lot of drug addicts.”
