June 16, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Amin Dhillon, the Miss India Canada Worldwide contest winner of 2010, is a great fan of Bollywood item numbers. She is also interested in Bollywood and wants to follow the illustrious path of the previous beauty queens. But unlike others, she plans of entering Bollywood as an item girl only.
In an interview, Amin said, “I love to be the centre of attention. I enjoy dressing up and personally admire the song “Kajra re’, picturised on another beauty queen, Aishwarya. I have performed on the number too. I enjoy performing on stage which is why the item songs are the best choice for me.”
Her winning the pageant has also been influenced by an item song. Amin informed, “My performance on the song “Happening’ from Main Aur Mrs. Khanna, rocked the pageant.”
Amin was born in Winnipeg, the capital of Manitoba. Her parents moved to Canada from Punjab. She graduated from the Asper School of Business. In 2008, Dhillon participated in the Miss India Canada beauty pageant and was declared the runner up. Then, she went though the India Canada Worldwide contest and was crowned with the 2010 title.
Amin believes that beauty pageants can become an easy ladder to Bollywood but only if you use them wisely. She added, “With the help of a beauty pageant, you can meet people from across the world. You can also get good modeling and acting assignments via the contacts.”
The beauty queen has already got offers from Bollywood as she came to Mumbai last month. She is reading scripts now. Amin said, “At present, I am not allowed to disclose anything. But yes, I am going through some scripts and you can expect an announcement of my first film very soon.”
Amin loved David Dhawan’s approach towards comedy films and she said that she admires Madhur Bhandarkar for the topics of his movies, which are real issues. She wants to take the Indian culture to Hollywood but her goal remains Bollywood.
The 26 year old beauty also aspires to be a good author. Amin is busy writing a book on her personal experience about her experiences of the beauty pageant. Speaking more about her book, Dhillon said, “I wished to focus on the good and bad sides of the pageants in my fictional novel. It will discuss, how tough it is to trust people there and how important it is to show that you are perfect. A fictional character will be the focus of my book, who wins a pageant by chance. I plan to write a series of books on that.”
We wish, Amin all success, both as a writer and as an actress!
