London, Feb 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Beatles favorite recording studio, which is located at Abbey Road has been put up for sale. The studio at Abbey Road was the place where The Beatles recorded their 1969 album, and the legendary cover photograph of the musicians crossing the street was snapped outside the building, according to contactmusic.com.
Besides the Beatles, other famous artists have also recorded their songs there like Michael Jackson, Radiohead, U2, Green Day, Oasis and Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd recorded their legendary album ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’. The recording company EMI owns the studio, and they had bought it in 1929 for $160,000. It has been put up for sale to make up for some of the losses suffered by the company in recent years. Though the exact price being asked for the studio is not known, but it is being estimated that the price is something in the range of $20 million.
The studio is located at No. 3 Abbey Road, St. John’s Wood, and the recording company EMI bought it in the late 1920’s to make the first customized recording studio. The inauguration ceremony of the studio was held on the 12th November 1931, and the chief guest of honor at the ceremony was the famed British classical music composer Edward Elgar. He also conducted an all-male orchestra through his “Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1″.
