girl1 London, Aug 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A Challen upright piano used by the legendary British band “The Beatles” for recording their tracks will be offered up for sale soon. The same piano was also reportedly used by Pink Floyd at the Abbey Roads Studios. There are reports, which suggest that it would sell for around £150,000 according to analysts, even though it was bought for just £250.

The Beatles used that Challen piano to record a couple of their tracks including “Paperback Writer,” Reports by Reuters indicate two of Pink Floyd’s hit albums featured songs recorded with that Challen piano.

The piano stayed in the Abbey Road studios for a long time starting from 1964. However the studio stopped using the piano in the 1980s. The piano will be auctioned by Bonham’s whose consultant Stephen Maycock said he’s not too sure about the exact tracks the on Pink Floyd’s albums made with the Challen piano even though the Beatles tracks are known. “It was used exclusively in Studio Three through the ’70s and into the ’80s so The Beatles used it in the ’60s, Pink Floyd probably used it when they recorded it at Abbey Road and probably many other artists also,” according to Bonham’s’ consultant Stephen Maycock.

The piano is set to go on auction on August 15.
