BBC to launch a new drama about Boy George

LONDON, ENGLAN (BNO News) – ‘Worried about the boy’ is the name of a new drama about Boy George, which will be broadcasted on BBC Two, BBC announced Friday.

Appointed as part of BBC Two´s Eighties season, the series will present a “young Boy George and his journey to become a star on the Eighties fashion and pop music scene,” BBC said in their statement.

George O’Dowd is a teenager who leaves Eltham, a district in the London Borough of Greenwich, in order to immerse himself as a regular at the infamous Blitz Club, a popular place for those at the head of the New Romantic movement.

Written by Tony Basgallop and directed by Julian Jarrold, “Douglas Booth plays Boy George, Mathew Horne plays Culture Club drummer Jon Moss, Marc Warren plays nightclub pioneer and Visage front-man Steve Strange, and Mark Gatiss plays music impresario Malcolm McLaren,” BBC added.

The drama is scheduled to be aired in spring of 2010.
