The United Producers and Distributors Forum (UPDF) has asked Madhur Bhandarkar and Sunil Lulla to postpone the releases of their films Jail and Aladin respectively as they are clashing with the release of two other big films. However, Madhur and Sunil seem to be in no mood to pay any heed to their advice.
After the multiplex strike, the UPDF was formed by Bollywood filmmakers to make sure no two big films release on the same day. Madhur’s Jail was scheduled for a November 6 release but Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is set to release that day while Sunil’s Aladin was ready to release on October 30th but Vipul Shah’s London Dreams came along. But Madhur and Sunil are confident they don’t want to change the release dates. A spokesperson from Eros (producers of Aladin) has confirmed that the film will still release on October 30th, in spite of all the disagreements that took place over it.
Percept Picture Company, who have produced Jail, have retorted saying that the UPDF are just five people who cannot decide how the industry must function and that they too will release Jail on November 6th as planned earlier. The UPDF feels that their decision was taken for the best interests of the filmmakers but they are not ready to listen.
