Aug 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Barcelona seems to be on a roll when it comes to fining musical talents lately. The city imposed a $22,000 fine on the band known as ‘U2’ for allegedly rehearsing too loudly and for too long, and act which is called “noise pollution”. The famous city in Spain is also considering placing fines on the singer ‘Shakira’ as well, for various indiscretions.

Considered one of the most successful bands in the world, ‘U2’ offended the city of Barcelona, Spain last summer as they were rehearsing for the “U2 360 Degrees” tour when they became too loud, and practice3d for two hours longer than the city permits.

A spokeswoman stated that the band was fined both for rehearsing until midnight, when they were supposed to stop at 10 pm, and reaching sound levels above what is allowed in the city by authorities. These levels were set before the concert event took place. Residents near the Camp Nou soccer stadium, where U2 was rehearsing, filed complaints against the band.

The spokeswoman went on the say that the city is now considering what fines to impose on Shakira, for a variety of apparent offenses against the city. According to the ‘Associated Press’, Barcelona is looking at “fining Colombian singer Shakira for recording a video in the city without a permit, dancing in a fountain and riding a motorbike without a helmet.”
