London, August 8 (ANI): Barbra Streisand has handed out more than 400 personal items to go under the hammer in New York.

The singer donated items including performance costumes, paintings, furniture and other collectables that will be put on display in Newbridge, Co Kildare, Ireland, in September while the sale will be held in October.

Proceeds from the auction are to benefit her charity, the Streisand Foundation, that helps women’s, children’s, environmental and political causes.

“What good does it do in storage? Let someone else enjoy it,” The Telegraph quoted her as saying.

“These things, they’re not forever. We pass them on and reap the benefits for something important.

“I’m a collector, so one collects and collects and collects. But now I have enough stuff, so it’s a good time to clean the closets,” she added. (ANI)
