The ace television talk show host reunited Barbara Streisand and Robert Redford once again at the Oprah Winfrey show. This may be regarded as a reunion in a true sense as the two actors came together on screen, after a long span of 37 years, while the surprising element was, Barbara Streisand had no clue that Oprah Winfrey would invite his “The Way We Were” co-star.

As the two encountered with each other, the episode once again became yet another cult episode. Probably that is where the skills of Oprah Winfrey as a talk show host lies. She knows the right way to bring out the right emotional authenticity, at the right time, with a good taste. The 68 year old actress and his 83 year old on-screen lover greeted each other with a warm hug and sat down to chat with Oprah Winfrey with absolute delight. They explained why they did not appear together in any interview since the release of their movie “The Way We Were” in 1973. Robert Redford said that he did not think that he would get a word in, to which Barbara Streisand also agreed.

Robert Redford, who was an established actor and a sex symbol of that decade, said that he was almost on the verge of turning down the offer, as he felt that the nature of the script was one dimensional. On the other hand, Barbara Streisand, prayed every day so that he finally accepts the role and she gets an opportunity to romance him on-screen. There might have been a lot of truth in her prayer, that not only made her dreams come true, but also got the movie two Oscars and immortalized it.
