New Delhi, Oct 22 (IANS) Head thrown back, eyes closed as she crooned the sensuous award-winning Bangla number “Boye jai sudhi bish”, Bengali singer Nilanjana Sarkar had the audience in raptures at the 57th National Awards here Friday evening.
Sarkar’s blues number enlivened the otherwise staid mood at the ceremony with her song, from Bengali film “House Full”, that fetched her the best female playback singer award from President Pratibha Patil.
The number is an attempt at bringing the feel of blues to Bengali music and has been an instant hit.
Directed by Bappaditya Bandopadhyay, the movie stars Prosenjit, Ushashie, Rachna Shah, Sreelekha Mitra, Rimjhim Gupta and Rita Dutta Chakraborty.
