Bangalore, June 26 (IANS) “I cannot believe this. My icon is dead,” said Rukimi Sharma amid tears when she learnt that the ‘King of Pop’ Michael Jackson had died Thursday. She along with many music lovers in Banglaore Friday mourned and paid tribute to the musical genius.
Music lovers of Bangalore have expressed shock and grief at the sudden death of Jackson, 50, who died Thursday following a cardiac arrest at his home in Los Angeles, US.

Rukimi Sharma, a self-confessed Michael Jackson fan could not stop tears streaming down her cheeks when she got the news from her college mates in the morning.

“I cannot believe this. My icon, our icon is dead. Music lovers will be poorer without his music,” said Rukimi.

Ravi Kumar, an official of pub Styx, which will pay tribute to Jackson Friday evening, told IANS: “We’ll pay tribute to Michael Jackson, the legend, and his music Friday evening. Our regular guests are in touch with us and in the evening everyone will come together to pay tribute to the musical genius.”

Styx pub, located in heart of the city on MG Road is known for heavy metal music, apart from the variety of beverages that it has on offer.

Friday nights are special for regular Styx pub goers, with some of the world’s best metal tracks music being played till midnight.

“We’ll miss Jackson the man, but we’ll always remember him for his chartbuster numbers. We all love Michael Jackson,” said Sumit P., an IT professional and regular visitor at Styx.

“He has gone too soon. The sudden and untimely death of Michael Jackson is shocking. We’ve all grown up listening, enjoying and learning from Jackson chartbuster songs,” said Rajeev Rajagopal, member of famous Bangalore-based rock band Thermal And A Quarter.

Bangaloreans’ favourite numbers from Jackson’s ‘hit list’ include songs from his smash hit albums “Thriller” and “Bad”. Music lovers of the city also love Jackson’s ‘moon walk’ dance steps.

“He was the god of pop music. I am shell-shocked. I cannot believe Michael Jackson is dead. I have grown up listening to his songs. It’s a huge loss to the entire music industry,” said Yadu, the 20-year-old drummer of popular band Illuminati.

Siddharth Anand, a Bangalore based businessman, said: “I love his songs. He was an entertainer. We’ll miss him.”
