bamaDec 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The new reality show ‘Bama Belles’ aired on TLC on December 5. The show follows the life of 5 women from Alabama as they juggle their careers and their families. With some interesting and provocative southern drama, the show promises to be an out and out entertainer for the reality TV fans. The title of the first episode sent a clear message about why the show could stand out from the ‘Housewives’ series. Named ‘Southern and Way Proud Of It’, the episode also introduced to the audience the cast from Dothan, Alabama.

By far the outspoken and somewhat brash character seen so far is Amie Pollard. The 39 year old mother and radio personality is seen fierce when upset but otherwise great friends with the rest of the cast. Melissa is a 35 year old mother who is also a former beauty queen. She is seen having quit her job to help out her husband with a business. The drama begins when the couple struggle to keep the business afloat. Jana Roberts who among the younger lot on the show, is a preacher’s daughter who is seen going through a rollercoaster emotional phase as she and her husband prepare for IVF. Val Tignini, a 26 year old web entrepreneur, is the only one on the show who is not originally from Alabama. She appears slightly at odds with the Southern values and is seen to be great friends with Amie Pollard.

Dakota Redding, the 24 year old cowboy, is a southerner to the core. In the first episode, she is seen getting ready to enlist full-time in the forces. The show has received a great hype in spite of the comparisons arising with the ‘Housewives’ series of Bravo.
