Padma Lakshmi NEW YORK Feb 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Padma Lakshmi, 39, has welcomed a new miracle into her life, on Saturday Feb 20, a baby girl named Krishna. The beautiful star has suffered from endometriosis for man years according to her doctor, which leaves its victims infertile. Because of this, the baby’s birth is considered “a miracle”.

“Model, author and Emmy-nominated host of Top Chef Padma Lakshmi gave birth to a baby girl named Krishna Thea Lakshmi on Saturday,” her rep told People Magazine. “Mother and baby are well and happy.”

The name of the baby was chosen to fulfill a promise which she had made early in her pregnancy. She said that she would give the child a ‘classically Indian Sanskrit name.’

Padma is the former wife of famous author, Salmon Rushdie, who dedicated his novel entitled ‘Fury’ and written in 2004 to her, but they divorced in 2007. She has not yet shared the name of her baby’s father with the press.

Patma will be quite busy with the new baby and several other projects in which she is involved. She has an NBC sitcom, designs jewelry, does modeling, and writes cookbooks among other things.
