Away From Her bags best feature title at Indie Awards

Washington, Feb 22 (ANI): Sarah Polley’s feature directorial debut Away From Her picked up the best feature film prize at the inaugural Indie Awards in Ottawa.

Polley received an Oscar nod for adapted screenplay, while Julie Christie will compete for best actress at the 80th annual Academy Awards, reports Variety.

The Indie awards were handed out as part of the kickoff for the annual Prime Time conference of the Canadian Film and Television Producers Assn.

Moose TV took away award in comedy series category, besting ratings leaders Corner Gas and Little Mosque on the Prairie.

The award for children’s or youth series went to Generation XXL, docu series nod went to Saving Luna, from Mountainside Films; and Designer Guys bagged the lifestyle series honour.

The miniseries award went to October 1970, while the honour for Primetime drama series was given to the dark serial killer drama Durham County.

In God’s Country bagged TV movie title. (ANI)
