Average employee wastes 5.7 years of work life in pointless meetings!August 22nd, 2008 - 2:47 pm ICT by ANI
London, Aug 22 (ANI): An average Briton wastes 5.7 years of his or her working life in meetings almost half of which are pointless, claims a new poll.
The poll found a typical Brit worker would have 6.4 meetings a week with each lasting on average 75 minutes.
But 39 per cent of get-togethers will have no end product, produce no new ideas nor uncover any worthwhile initiatives, a study of 5,000 office workers showed.
It also emerged that 13 per cent of staff reckon they concentrate for only half of the duration while 11 per cent said 15 minutes was their limit.
And 15 per cent admitted they arrange meetings around lunchtime so they can claim the money back on expenses.
Meetings are an integral part of business but there is a feeling people get called into meetings that they dont need to be in, The Sun quoted office solutions firm maxethouse.com, which commissioned the report, as saying. (ANI)
