July 12, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster 3D sci-fi epic Avatar is going to be re-released on August 27 with some extra footage, which were never seen earlier.

The Academy award winning movie will be released again in 3D and IMAX theatres all over the world. The extra eight minutes will have some new creatures and action scenes.

On the addition of only eight minutes, the officials informed, “IMAX has permitted a maximum run time of 170 minutes. The original Avatar released in December 2009 had a run time of 162 minutes so the new version could add only eight more minutes”.

Audiences always wanted to see more of Pandora and hence the filmmaker came up with this new version.

James Cameron discussed about the re-release earlier also. He informed that two more scenes, which were originally edited, showed Jake Sully further trying to prove himself to the Na’vi natives. A tribe festival was also there, where Tsu’tey gets drunk.

In India, the movie got a very good response with the earnings crossing the Rs.1 billion mark in five weeks. It was released in Hindi, English, Tamil, and Telugu languages in India.

Greg Foster, the President and Chairman of Film Entertainment sector of IMAX, said, “We are very excited to re-release this extraordinary movie with some extra footage. This will again enthrall the audience with some more imagination”.

HURRAY! I saw it in IMAX in December and I am dying to see it again in the theater. I bought the movie, but it just isn’t the same. I plan on taking my dad too - he missed it the first time.
