June 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It seems that M. Night Shyamalan is leaving no stone unturned to get success kissing his feet after the release of his latest film “The Last Airbender”. The director who has in the past few years suffered disappointment with films like “The Village”, “Lady in the Water” and “The Happening” has this time collaborated with Nickelodeon and McDonalds as the promotion partner to get for the movie the needed publicity before it hits theaters on July 1.
The latest film “The Last Airbender” from the director of “The Sixth Sense” uses live-action and 3D adaptation to tell the already known story of Aang (Noah Ringer) the last of the avatars who realizes that he is the only person left who is capable of controlling the four essential elements of this world which are Earth, Water, Air and Fire. It is this knowledge and art that Aang uses to ensure peace in the war-torn world.
Reports claim that the original title of the film was supposed to be “Avatar: The Last Airbender” but after the James Cameron’s “Avatar” was released, the title was shortened to “The Last Airbender”. However, what critics are pointing out is that the director of the film is treading into a path in which he had never trod before. The film that hits the theaters next week will have children forming the lion’s share of the audience. However the director seems comfortable with the fact and has said to media sources that he had thought for a long time to do something like the present project. Not only is he releasing “The Last Airbender” he is also planning to go for a trilogy based on the hit Nickelodeon series.
