August 16th, 2010 - 8:25 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington, Aug 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) After directing the block buster 3D movie Avatar and creating numerous records in the process, James Cameron is now all set to do his bit for the environment.
Several groups in 15 countries are being recruited by Earth Day Network to achieve its goal of planting a million new trees. Twentieth Century Fox and James Cameron are behind the tree-planting program.
The group is located in Washington announced their goals to the public at an event on Sunday. Cameron has already planted the first tree in Brazil around four months ago. American states scheduled to benefit from the tree planting exercise include New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. In all these cities they are aiming to boost the oxygen supply and making these cities more enjoyable to live in.
There will also be numerous tree-planting exercises across cities in Spain, Mexico and Canada especially in those areas where the land is suffering from deforestation. The Caribbean country of Haiti which was hit with a deadly earthquake will also have about half a million fruit-bearing trees planted by ‘Trees for the Future’ to help restore the country. Hopefully the hundreds of thousands of trees, which are going to be planted in Haiti, would restore the country to its natural beauty, which was ravaged in the earthquake.
