avatar1Dec. 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Avatar, the 300 million dollars epic from James Cameron, is the first of its kind in many ways. Number one, it is about the most highly budgeted film made in history. Secondly, it is shot in the unique “stereoscopic” system. Thirdly, it is very likely to be one of the highest grossing films of all time. There are many reasons why one should go to watch Avatar, not the least of which is the fact that it plunges the audience into a never-felt-before movie going experience.

Avatar is based on the backdrop of a beautiful and mysterious extraterrestrial satellite called Pandora, many years in the future in Earth time. The graphics are breathtakingly beautiful; the planet, with its multi-hued flora and fauna, and above all, the forest dwelling, peace loving clan of the Na’vi. The humans are taken there in the mission to pilfer the extremely rich reserve of minerals that the planet contains, in order to solve the energy crisis that the Earth faced in the 22nd century. The atmosphere of Pandora not being suitable for humans, the Avatar is created, a sort of a Na’vi-human crossbreed, with the mind of the human latching itself onto the body of a Na’vi clone.

The protagonist Avatar, played by Sam Worthington, falls in live with one of the Na’vi women. It is love at the time of war, for the blue-skinned, tail-swishing Na’vi do not comply with the wishes of the humans and bitter battle follows. The 3-D film is a visual treat, not only for the superb animation, but also for the wonderfully vibrant colors that Pandora presents, and the beauty of the various races that coexist there in primeval intimacy.
