August 21, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Debutant writer-director Srijit Mukherjee’s latest Bengali movie Autograph is going to hit theaters on 24th September, 2010, announced the producers.

Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni of Shree Venkatesh Films are producing the movie. They have earlier produced some renowned films like Chokher Bali and Iti Mrinalini. The ruling hero of the Bengali film industry, Prosenjit Chatterjee, is starring in the film, accompanied by actress Nanada Sen and actor Indraneil Sengupta.

The storyline of the movie is about three people, of which one is a superstar, one is a young director, and the third is a theater actress. The movie deals with the coming together of these three people while making a film and how their lives change thereafter. For Prasenjit, it is just like playing his real life because in real life too he is a superstar in the Bengali film industry. The movie is set in four cities- Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Santiniketan. According to the actress Nandana, the characters written by Srijit in this movie are very real and unpredictable.

Autograph is also said to be a tribute to late superstar Uttam Kumar’s 1966 classic movie Nayak, which starred Sharmila Tagore, Somen Bose, Bireswar Sen, Premangsu Bose, Nirmal Ghosh, Kamu Mukherjee, Sumita Sanyal and others.
