Austrian cellar victim felt ‘free’ when kidnapper killed himself
September 7th, 2010 - 5:00 pm ICT by ANILondon, Sep 07 (ANI): Natascha Kampusch, who was abducted as a teenager, said she had a sense of “warmth and safety” when she came to know that her kidnapper had killed himself.
Kampusch, whose memoirs are due to be published across Europe later this week, has explained how she came close to being discovered on numerous occasions during her captivity.
In the latest extracts, she says she took one trip with her captor to a ski resort where she was left alone with a woman for the first time since her abduction and spoke to her.
“She smiled at me in a friendly way, turned round - and left. It was just like one of my worst nightmares: no one could hear me; I was invisible. Much later, I found out the woman was Dutch and simply hadn’t understood what I was saying”, the Telegraph quoted her as saying in the extract, published by The Daily Mail.
The day after her escape, she says she heard that Priklopil had thrown himself in front of a train and felt “free”. (ANI)
