Australian Tourism Industry Will Have An Exposure By Oprah Winfrey’s Trip, Says Andrew McEvoy

oprah-wSep 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) “The Oprah Winfrey Show” began its final season yesterday and the host surprised the audience by announcing that she would take all of them to Australia. Oprah Winfrey previously said that the final season will have the biggest surprises in “The Oprah Winfrey Show” history. Australian Federal Tourism Minister Martin Ferguson said in one his statements that Oprah Winfrey’s decision to bring her talk show to Australia in December is a brilliantly executed stratagem for tourism. Reports suggest that more than $3 million will be spent by the Federal and NSW governments for getting Oprah Winfrey, her crew members and the 300 show audience to Australia.

A reputed media source reported that during the visit to Australia Oprah Winfrey will shoot several episodes of “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. The whole visit will be partly financed with $1.5 million from Australia’s current marketing budget. Martin Ferguson said at a press conference in Sydney that he thinks the whole money is “well spent” as it will boost the Australian tourism industry to a great extent. The Tourism Minister also added that the whole trip truly represents an amazing opportunity to showcase the country along with the warmth and hospitality of the people living there. Martin Ferguson also said that Australian Tourism is finally getting an opportunity and the nation will win as a result of this “coup”.

The chief executive of Australian Tourism said that the country will get invaluable “exposure” from Oprah Winfrey’s visit. New South Wales premiere Kristina Keneally said that the whole trip had been in the planning stages for the past year and she thanked the Government for keeping the whole news under wraps. Oprah Winfrey, in one of her interviews said that she is “excited” about the whole trip.
