Contrary to the recent news reports of Ajay Devgan’s ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge?’ being inspired by a Hollywood flick, the film is neither a remake of any Indian or International film but is actually based on ‘Tum Kab Jaaoge Atithi’, a short story penned by noted satirist Late Sharad Joshi for which the rights have been purchased.
Amita Mangat, producer of ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge?’ refutes any allegations, “We haven’t yet revealed any First Look or Poster of the film, but only a working still of the film. It may look similar to the poster of a Hollywood film but beyond that, there aren’t any other similarities.”
“What interested us most was the originality of the script. Based on a short story by Sharad Joshi, it is a refreshing and humorous take on something we have always faced in our lives -a guest that never leaves!” says Denzil Dias, Deputy Managing Director (Theatrical), Warner Bros. Picture India.
‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge?’ is the story about an unwanted guest who enters the household of a married couple and lives for a long duration by continuously extending his stay. So much so, that the couple is exasperated and starts praying for his exit. While Ajay Devgan and Konkona Sen play the part of a married couple, Paresh Rawal is the uninvited guest.
The film is produced by Warner Bros. Pictures India and Amita Pathak under her banner Wide Frame Films and is directed by Ashwni Dhir.
Pritam will compose the Music for the film with choreography by Raju Khan, while Irshad Kamil has penned the lyrics.
The screenplay for the film is by Robin Bhatt, Ashwni Dhir and Tushar Hiranandani, and Dharmendra Sharma edits the film. The Cinematographer of the film is Aseem Bajaj, Sound recordist Shubhash Sahu while production designs will be by Sabu Cyril.
To be shot over 50 days at Yashraj Studios and other locales in Mumbai, the film is slated to release on 26th February 2010.
