Ashanti’s ’stalker’ gets two-year jail term
February 19th, 2010 - 5:13 pm ICT by ANINew York, Feb 19 (ANI): Devar Hurd, an obsessed Ashanti fan who bombarded the R&B star’s mother with obscene text messages, has been jailed for two years.
Calling it a “completely unsatisfactory situation,” Supreme Court Justice Thomas Farber ordered Hurd to jail for harassing and stalking the singer’s mom, Tina Douglas, with raunchy text messages and what prosecutors labeled “self-created pornography,” reports The New York Daily News.
Of the pictures of him pleasuring himself, Hurd said: “Yes, I’ve sent some adult text messages, for adults only. My intent was not to harm.”
The car salesman has been jailed at Rikers Island.
“Even if he believed that Ashanti was in love with him, his conduct was not that of a man wooing a woman,” said assistant district attorney Carolina Holderness. “It’s not like he was sending her flowers.” (ANI)
