Los Angeles, May 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The star of the show ‘As the World Turns’ – Helen Wagner is dead. She was 91 years old. She died on Saturday, and her family and representative refused to divulge the cause behind her death. She gained a huge fan following for her brilliant portrayal in the show ‘As the World Turns’. She acted in this show for more than 50 years and in this process, also set up a Guinness Book of World record – “for playing the same role on television for the longest time.”
She was born in Texas and was also a part of many shows on Broadway as well. However she was the face of the show ‘As the World Turns’ in the character of Nancy Hughes, a part that she played for a whooping 54 years. She was a part and the parcel of the show since the pilot episode. “Helen will always remain the heart and soul of ‘As the World Turns’,” said executive producer of the show Christopher Goutman. And even though the ratings of the show are falling now, yet the last episode of the show is all set to air in September.
She was married to Robert Willey, who was a Broadway producer. He died last year.
