Artie Lange, who had been subjected to severe drug abuse, and subjected himself to suicide attempt by stabbing himself nine times in January, wanted to fight back and give his life a second chance.

He was back with his stand up comedy in the same show, several months after his suicide attempt in January. The entire bunch of audience could not help giving him a long ovation and huge applause, after his midnight performances on Friday and Saturday. The 42 year old comedian, was so touched by the reaction of his fans, that it almost brought tears to his eyes. Artie Lange was fighting with heroine addiction, and several other personal problems. Things however took the most serious turn, when he tried to attempt suicide, by stabbing himself fiercely in his apartment. Fortunately, his mother came to his rescue and put him under the required medical treatment right at the eleventh hour, which saved his life.

After this mishap, Artie Lange wanted to get back to a normal life again and requested Gary “Baba Booey” Dell’Abate, the producer of the Stern Show, to let him make a come back, so that he could share his story with the rest of the crew members and his fans. Initially everyone including Howard Stern and Sidekick Robin Quivers were apprehensive about bringing him back as they were under the impression that Artie Lange was not in a proper mental state, and needs more medical treatment before making a come back. However, when they reluctantly agreed, things took an unexpected overwhelming turn with the comedian’s performance. Doctors have now conformed, that Artie Lange is now healthy enough to make regular visit to the show.
