London, April 27 (IANS) Troubled British rocker Pete Doherty’s art works, made with drug needles and his own blood, has enraged anti-drug campaigners. Doherty, now spending time in jail, is having his artwork displayed at the Chappe Gallery in Paris this week but he couldn’t attend the opening since he is in jail for 14-weeks as he breached his probation, contactmusic.com reported.
His drawings have irked many and are being derided for glamorising illegal substance abuse. One drawing is of his former girlfriend supermodel Kate Moss and his signature written in blood.
Even art experts don’t seem to be impressed. Sid David West, owner of London’s Decima gallery: “It’s not got any artistic merit. He’s using his blood to make them interesting, but when you look at them they’re what any four-year-old can do.”
