On the 1st of July, 2007, he took permanent retirement from doing weekend hosting and said that from now on he would just be doing “guest hosting.” The main reason behind his permanent retirement from the show was his intention of spending more time with his family and his new born daughter. On 20th February, 2009, Art Bell returned to “Coast to Coast AM” to discuss global financial crisis and its effects with Wall St. insider Michael J. Panzner.

On the show his guest was Professor Peter Ward and the topics that they discussed were mass extinctions, earth’s “self-destructive” phenomena and life beyond planet earth. While the program was on air, one of the listeners forwarded a query asking why he was in the Philippines. As a reply to this query, Bell hinted that his move to Manila could be permanent.
