Randy Quaid Apr 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Actor Randy Quaid and his wife have once again failed to make a court appearance in Santa Barbara, California. Warrants have been issued in the arrest of both of them for failure to appear on Monday to face criminal charges in the case of dodging their hotel bill. Even their lawyer was unaware of where the two were, telling the judge that they had promised to show up.

The defense attorney, Robert Sanger, who is based out of Los Angeles, put up his best arguments to try and persuade thew judge not to issue a bench warrant, but it was to no avail. The warrant was issued for the arrest of both Randy Quaid and his wife. A continuance is in effect until the Quaids either turn themselves in or the police bring them in, whichever occurs first.

The attorney for the Quaids had no further comments. Santa Barbara Assistant District Attorney Arnold Tolks said he does not expect much. “They [the Quaids] don’t talk to me,” Tolks said. “Their attorney’s representative said yesterday in court that they were in contact with him and he indicated they were on the way in but that didn’t happen. I don’t have any other inside information. Right now the warrant is out. . .[but] who knows? They could pop their heads up at any moment.”

This is by far not the first time that the couple have been on the lam. They were due to show up on March 3, and the date was pushed back. In October of 2009, the same type of news hit the headlines, “It was on calendar today to see if they wanted to voluntarily appear,” Santa Barbara District Attorney’s Office spokesman Lee Carter told E! News. “They didn’t show up. The warrant in California remains outstanding; the District Attorney’s Office will start preparing the extradition paperwork. On Oct. 26—or whenever it is the Quaids finally make their way to court—the duo will “be subject to criminal arraignment, and they will either be able to bail bond out if they want to post a bail, or they can be released on their own recognizance if the judge deems that appropriate,” Carter said.

They are faces charges of misdemeanor burglary, defrauding and innkeeper, and conspiracy for a hospital stay at the San Ysidro Ranch. They initially refused to pay their &10,000 hotel bill, and by the time it was paid, they had court proceeding to deal with, which they continuously skip. They were out on $40,000 bond in Texas, and after their arraignment, it was raised by $20,000 apiece.
