October 12, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): If you think that the piano can be played only by hand, then you should certainly meet Liu Wei. Liu Wei is perhaps the World’s best armless pianist. Liu has won the ‘China’s Got Talent’ reality TV show by playing the instrument with his toes.  The Chinese version of the internationally famous talent hunt show saw Liu pitted against the 7-year-old standup comedian Zhang Fengxi at the final round of the show.

Liu Wei lost his arms at the age of 10 when he was accidentally electrocuted while playing a game of hide and seek. Liu, a resident of Beijing taught himself to play the piano when he was 18 and has been practicing regularly ever since.  For his final performance, Liu performed the song “You’re Beautiful” all the while, singing and playing the piano with his feet.

During the Award ceremony, Liu was invited by Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai to be a guest performer at the world tour, which will give him a chance to perform in Las Vegas for three months. Previous winners from ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ including singer Paul Potts were there to honor Lie Wei.  The show’s director, Jin Lei, told the newspaper that the show has been a major hit in China and it will continue its success run next year as well.
